The Gould Business Incubator (GBI) was established as an extension of the SiMT in 2012 to help ensure the success of new business ventures in the Florence-Darlington area. We pride ourselves on flexibility and sustainability – GBI accommodates one-person startups, small manufacturing teams, and global engineering concerns. Many clients are small one- or two-person service companies, getting their start while conserving capital. Some have taken space in our incubator so that they have access to the myriad technologies housed at the SiMT: extensive 3D printed and/or machined prototype capabilities, CAD and design assistance, and manufacturing expertise. Others have included new offices of businesses that are established in other parts of the state, branching out to the Pee Dee region. ARCTIC, an international company specializing in computer-cooling devices, spent six months in the incubator while its offices and facility were being readied.
